12 seconds of music - for a game |
 |
|
I have been writing some music for a 3D game for a friend. He has made the game engine from scratch and the results so far are looking good.
Anyway, this is yet another short one.. just 12 seconds.. it can be looped but this one is not quite set for looping.. The piece is actually far longer .. but we are splitting it up so the game can decide ho w the siong is assembled during game play _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

Thx guys. Dunno if this is exactly 80s... but I have used some old signature sounds of my own from way back, some heavy compression adn then some.. but the basic rythm here in the bass is reggae.. not jamaican or London reggae.. but the european continental elektro-reggae. It is.. I confess not that evident.. but it should stand out. _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

i'm gonna give you a second by second critique (roughly)
nice big ovetone on the organ sound, you might could gritty up that fundamental. the fundamental and second partial sound a little like different instruments for some reason. preverbing every second drum hit is cool, but why not on the first one where you'd really notice? the kick could use a little thump, sounds a little tubby to me, but the overall sound has a squashed, midrangey sound (not sure if it's a transfer rate thing or a mixing issue). could use some highs, especially in the highhats and triangle. that said, the snare is actually a bit hot in the mix. great choice of video game feeling instruments. this would be great for a side scrolling fighting game, like the first level of double dragon maybe.
if ya ever need to sub-contract your busy video game music schedule out, look me up cause i really wanna get into that world. _________________ Astroid Power-Up!: "googleplex" available at:

Computer game music |
 |

Hmmmm. Well, from only 12 seconds you can tell it's really really well produced. You've got the boxes and the skills to match. It definitely sounds like computer game music to me. I can really imagine some sprite swinging from a rope between platforms or something. The chords on the 2nd/4th beats really sound like they're sampled off Massive Attack by the way. Is that right?
I'm also doing a computer game - a shoot em up. I'm doing tunes to match. Big ass jungly type business! Great fun! |

Nope... this is just me and the synths and stuff. I never sample segments from other people´s music.

It sounds like a big-budget porn soundtrack (yes, that is a compliment). All of your samples are so well-defined. Lots of mood. Do you use Absynth? |

THX!
Nope.. no Absynth. I know it is great but I haven´t yet had any urge to go there. I guess I have enough noisemaking tools as it is right now. I am still learning the NM ( classic ) and with that one I guess I will have a great rig for what I usually do.. for now.
There is more of my stuff in here: http://electro-music.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=69
There you might find some gearlists and such too. _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"
