Going Old school Subject description: Quadrophonic sound, love it or hate it. |

Hi newb here I Recently got hold of a quadraphonic amplifier, and simply feel in love with it, I've run a 5:1 system for years, i always found it very clincal, and not very realsitic, I think its a shame Quadrohonic never really took off, i good quad mix sounds fab, unfortunatly due to lack of demand it was never developed properly so alot of the mixes are shoddy at best, i've found the good ones very enjoyable, there odd, which i like, hearing a nice synth bass line wizz around your head is fun, 5:1 seems like its trying to hard, i would never cast it aside, i've heard some amazing things come out of 5:1 but i guess i just like the retro charm of quad, whats your opinion? _________________ If you can plug it in and it makes a noise, I want it! |

Hope to hear your tunes and see you around!
I haven't used a quad, but it sounds like fun. |

Quad mixes |
 |
|
Hi,
I as well as some of my fellow students are working on some Quad mixes right now. It works really well with the old Nord modulars that only have max four outputs and the Buchla 200e has a quad output with a funky surround panner.
Glad to hear there may be some people out there that would appreciate a quad mix.

I'm working with a quad system for > 15 years now, and I'm very pleased with it.
Not for fun, To me it's serious. I made a page about this (still have to make an English translation of the whole paper) :
http://www.xs4all.nl/~samzen/4c/quad.html
The development of quadrophonic reproduction started when it had to be done on vinyl with a special pickup and decoder.
Of course this failed at the time, due to technical barriers and wrong promotion.
Now, digitally, it's much more easy to make multichannel tracks, so also with four. _________________ 0.618033988 |
