Easy... just find the Røda Ulven product pix online somewhere and then embed the image url with the Img tag.

Very Happy

Anyways, my grandfather´s favorite fish bait (when performing the sacred art of ice fishing ( up north - Riksgrânsen )) was surströmming.. and they used very old cans.. that had gone on to some sort of hyper fermented stage.. so the cans were about to explode.. the animal life in general pretty much went into a state of shock when the cans were opened.. but the fish loved the stuff. Excellent bait. A perfect ice fishing session.. that´s a good xmas!

That picture of the red wolf on the can explains the situation well. It is calling for help.

Say, do you people ever 'test' that ... stuff on innocent tourists, in addition to the local fauna? Laughing Tourists tend not to be too happy about our pickled herring, so I can only imagine the effect of exposing them to surströmming. surprise

Surströmming is in fact mostly a swedish surprise.

IMO, we don´t really have that many scary dishes in Norway. The only one I can come up with might be smalahove.. which is in fact a sheep's head. That is what you get your plate. A head!

Essentially, traditional norwegian cuisine resembles what you have in coastal and rural regions in Portugal, Spain, Italy and Greece. The only main difference is that the vegetables are a bit different up here as the more amusing stuff doesn't like the conditions up north.. and less variations in fruit.. but then we have lotsa berries. It is not hard to serve a traditional norwegian meal that an unsuspecting victim from say Catalonia might find unnervingly familiar. Right.. we also lack a local supply of olive oil. Anyways, a large proportion of the dark brown haired norwegians are themselves imports from the Mediterranean and the Black Sea regions. That means we have a craving for olives and variants of goat cheese.

Virgin births? Shocked

At the risk of being pedantic, I would like to point out that a virgin birth is quite possible and I'm surprised that the practice is not applied ceremonially in catholic societies, timed for a christmas birthday of course. (Lord forgive me, just stating the facts).

I trust you, in fact I never tried it and researching "surströmming" I found this definition that seems very convincing:

its smell is so pungently horrid even the flies circling around us were initially confused and disoriented

As I said.. the wolf is calling for help

And now you know why the swedes never needed a nuclear deterrent. They have the surstrômming.

Xmas is a lot of stress for nothing. We already have enough stress this year without xmas stress.

No one in my circle wanted to blow a lot of money on stuff no one needs. I tried to encourage everyone to wrap up something they already have but don't need and give that as a present. At least a few people are doing this. That could be funny to get someone else's useless junk. You can always give it back to them the next year.

I'm only looking forward to some time off work so that I can play with my synths. And judging by the weather forecast I might get in a motorcycle ride too. Other than that it's me, the missus and two cats snuggled by the TV to watch something that is NOT a xmas special.

What a lot of miserable gits.

Time off work, nice food and lots of booze. I can think of worse times.
