Hmm.. it could probably fire up my dotcommie rig just fine. So.. how to batter the iPad into a 5U module?

More to the point, how does one hack an Alesis ioDock into a 5U panel? Very Happy

Got it yesterday.

Pretty fun app. I can see where a few additional features would be nice though, like being able to assign the Live control to pitch.

All in all not a bad app! Razz

Phaedra seems to work very well with Animoog. I have had Animoog for a few days since it went on sale and am still learning the ins and outs of it. I got Phaedra this evening and only was able mess with it for a short time. I was able to get it running with Animoog with a bit of fiddling around. Midibridge helped with the connection, but they may work together without it. I was able to listen to Animoog while adjusting Phaedra, and visa versa. I suspect this combo will keep me up at night. What was even better, I was able to get a sequence going with the Ani-Phaedra combo, fired up Geosynth to jam along with the combo. Am wondering what other music apps will play nicely as well?

Banjo: How did you do this? I'm not able to get Phaedra to talk to Animoog. Are you actually taking midi out back into the iPad to route to Animoog?
I haven't tried this, only just routing within the iPad.

Howdy Pyrosonic, and happy new year!!

While browsing through the app store, I came across a program called Midibridge. Curiosity getting the better of me, I had to at least read what it did seeing that the price was free, and still is as of this post. It is an internal midi router that connects app that can send and receive midi data.

Install the app. I had to reset the ipad? (hold the power and round button on the face of the ipad)(Not sure if that is called a reset) For me before I reset? the ipad, Animoog was buzzing, hence the reset.

Start the Phaedra app, and run the sequencer. Make sure you have a pattern playing. Click the round button on the face of the ipad. (what is the buttons name?) Run Animoog. Open the setup tab, and select Network Sessions1, or Phaedra if it is listed. Background Audio must be green (on) also. Animoog should begin playing whatever patch is selected. You can make all of the program changes while Phaedra is running in the background. If you switch back to Phaedra, you should still hear Animoog playing, and change the patterns in Phaedra. Pretty sweet. You may have to fiddle with it a bit to get them both to interact with each other, but I did it in under 15 minutes or so. Better yet, I fired up Geosynth, and was able to play it and change the patches while listening to what the Phaedra/Animoog combo. All of the other apps that I have seem to run fine with the Phaedra/Animoog combo playing in the background. A powerful trio.

Midibridge has send receive icons that you tap to wire together. I saw a picture that had two "combos" talking to each other. I wonder if Midibridge will allow the Phaedra/Animoog combo and another "combo" say Beatmaker sending its sequencer data to Sunrizer? Will the ipad have the processing power to run both combos without distortion? I'll have to check it out soon.

I am running an ipad2 with the latest OS. I have only had the ipad for about two weeks, and am still learning my way around it. Now if I only had the time to set aside a full day to explore the possibilities that Midibridge is allowing.

I tried to get the Phaedra/Animoog combo to play with Filtatron, but they quit after Filtatron started up. It does not support midi in and out yet apparently. That would be sweet if it did. Hope this helps. Let us know how you make out with it. Hope it works for you.

Actually I didn't need Midibridge after all,it was the Background Audio switch.Thanks.
( I could have sworn I tried that,but I guess I didn't )
Having lots of fun running a sequence and tweaking the x/y pad. Cool

You can't have 2 apps that make sound active at the same time, unfortunately. They can be open, but if they're making sound the current one cuts off the previous.

I did a little test using Phaedra midi out controlling 3 G2x slots. It worked fine.Random pitch edits coupled with the setup that I just happened to have up on the Nord ended up sounding pretty cool entirely by accident. Very Happy

Great to hear that you got it to work without Midibridge. I ran the Phaedra/Animoog combo today and tried Geosynth again, and got really bad distortion. I think with the three programs running, it puts too much strain on the processor. Bebot with the combo however worked great.

Midibridge will let you play more than one synth depending on the apps and how its routed. I have to experiment with it some more to determine what works and what does not.

You are right however that even with Midibridge installed, some apps will not work if they are running together. I am afraid that my technical knowledge of the ipad is extremely limited, so its a matter of trial and error finding out how to optimize the ipad for large demands on the processor.

If I get a copy of Phaedra for my wife's iPad, is there any way to sync the two?

Midibridge seems to have some sort of wifi transmit and receive function. I have yet to load Midibridge into my itouch, so I don't know if it will allow the two devices to do what you ask. Judging by the icons in the app, it appears that it very well might work.
