Just as last year I will be baking some oliebollen for NYE. However this time I got the idea of putting a piezo picup mic on the deep fryer to
see if I can record some nice sounds from it. I don't know how well it will work and there is of course the heat that might become a problem
but here is how I put the mic together:

I first used some silicone caulking to attach the piezo disc to a piece of material to (electrically) insulate it from the rest of the deep fryer.
The material I used looks like a paper but it is very sturdy and I know it is also somewhat heat resistant. I added some more caulking on top
and added another piece of this 'paper'. It was clamped down between a flat piece of wood and some dense foam on the top so I was able
to add a lot of pressure. This was left to dry on the radiator overnight. I also added a heat resistant sleeve to the cable so it doesn't short
out against the deep fryer in case it would melt. There was a solder joint sticking through so I removed it with a file and then covered it with
a small silicon pad that is normally used to insulate transistors and such from heatsinks. I then stuck it to the bottom of the deepfryer (which
is supposed to be a cold zone) with some aluminium tape. If everything works out I will be streaming some sounds later today, most likely
on the open port.

Hahahaha! Nothing in your home is safe from sound-making! I hope we can hear some recorded highlights at some point.

Very Happy I don't have a working microwave oven anymore, but I do have a (broken) toaster oven which I want to use as a housing for a synth.
I was thinking of putting the MFOS noise toaster in there but I think the toaster oven is too large for just that circuit.

Recording the deepfryer did actually work to some degree. There is some hummm and at some point the tape let go which you can hear at the
end of " frying batch 2" . I propped it up against the bottom of the pan with some wood and continued. Initially the sound actually got a bit louder
because of this but you can also hear it deteriorate turning into pops and crackles.

the last part + a photo of the result. They didn't came out so big and spherical as last
time, probably because I added a bit too much water, but they taste great nontheless Laughing .
