CAD condenser microphone cuts out / occasional oscillation

Twice ive bought a used condenser mic and its had the same problem. Naturally I thought it was my interface/cable/usb/phantom etc but the other condensers work fine. Basically its cuts out if the input is above a certain dB and fades back in, then sometimes there's a windy noise and oscillation/siren sound that happens. Anyone have an idea of what this could be? How I can diagnose fix? The mic is CAD GXL2200, I was looking to modify it anyway with all the modding info online for the mic so come at me. I've looked inside it all looks fine
