Indeed, electronics can be an expensive persuit. With many components being very inexpensive by the piece, it does all add up rather quickly. In the 90s I smoked so much of "the green stuff" that I kick myself now because I could have bought gear I saw which goes for ten times the price now. Like the ARP 2600 for $200 which would have encroached on my budget for exotic herbs. Funny, but SDIY has resulted in the moderation I've needed to budget my time and money. I am buying a house-sized modular on an installment plan.

To go back on topic, the XR2206 are very cool chips, and not too expensive, so far as special function chips go. Far more useful than the 566 VCOs everybody is always looking for. Speaking of which, I also recommend Thomas Henry's VCO chip cookbook.

This voice processor project is great, I might make one soon. Adding a small envelope follower, inverter, and range control make this thing complete. This way your voice is also controlling the VCO, as well as being processed with it. The Daleks will think you are one of them, until you really tweak the settings.

Yeah this is pretty much why I'm interested in it. I'd like to see how guitar reacts with it.
