Wavetable oscillators |

Yeah, Wave table oscillators or smaple based ones - like the Virus TI or V-synth type thing.
I am not a tech head so if anyone knows of any sample based oscillation that you can create with the G2X that gets saved with the patch (not just an audio in function), that would be awesome. |

you can create wavetables in a variety of ways, currently. do a search in the patch archive. one way is to clock a pattern generator at audio rate... maybe add a touch of glide to the output to taste. that's what i do, anyway. |

Excellent - thanks.
I am a newbie to the modular (about 2weeks) and exchanged my VirusTI Polar for a G2X - I have yet to unleash the capabilities of the modular for myself. Athough I have downloaded a few patches already and was shocked at t he sheer versatility of the thing - made me happy about the swap!
I'll try these out and see what I get. Nice. |

If Nord is listening:
Any wavetable implementation wouldn't have to sound perfect - part of the sonic charm of the PPG Wave and Prophet VS is the low bit depth and short tables. (64 8-bit word half-tables for wave, 12-bit word tables for VS) In other words, the amount of memory used to store them can be quite small - perhaps even part of patch memory.
Of course, a module that allows wavetables can also be used for creative wave shaping, even casio CZ-type oscillators. grungy sound = good! |

Another approach is to your some Control Sequencer Modules. If all you need is 64 words, that's just 4 of them. Depending on the waveforum of the control input, you can get random access too, not just sequencial like you'd get from a counter. _________________ --Howard

Since this is a wish list, I just wish for an easier way to implement wavetables on the mod2 to do Korg Wavestation-type stuff (wave sequencing, 'vector synthesis'). Even a limited wavetable implementation to get 'PPG Wave' two-oscillator wavetable sweeps would be cool.
The various workarounds and hacks(I mean this in a good way) to get wavetables on the mod2 are very wonderful and creative, but more than 2 wavetable oscillators at once may be stretching things.
I know the Korg legacy et. al. are out there, but the latency.... |

I Agree wavetables would be nice.
Why are you getting bad latency useing the Korg Legacy wavestation?
Cheers
