could you make complex beats using this sampler/drummachine? i have tried using drum machines in the past but found it only good for techno, or dance music in gerneral as you get 16 steps at various tempos.
i have heard good things about this model though, i was wondering if there is anyone here that has/is using it and got some nice patterns out of it. my aim to to write some crazy electro beats, out of time, time stretched and all of that. (i noticed it has the time stretching feature)
thanks |

Yes you can make very complex beats. The MPC1k is a full blown midi sequencer+sampler, not just a step sequencer. You basically hit record and start banging away on the pads, then quantize if you like, definitely would be good for electro.
I think Roland and Yamaha make similar sampler+sequencers in that price range as well, so you might want to look around and check out the MPC's manual to see if it's what you're looking for. _________________ eerik inpuj sound - http://www.inpuj.net/ |
