mLAN got a big billing on the Yamaha floor at this years show. What with the 01X on display running under a pre-release version of Panther 10.3.something and this new card, the future does look bright for this Yamaha technology. Yamaha say that several third parties are developing mLAN products and word is that Apple are going to be releasing a version their Panther OS X with embedded mLAN drivers – featuring very low latency audio, at some point this quarter.

Yamaha's vision for mLAN is to be able to network multiple enabled products. With the introduction of the mLAN16E, an expansion board for the recently-introduced Motif ES Music Production Synthesizer, this becomes a closer reality.
