ha, ha - oh yeah, silly question 'bout the negative rail!

I'm betting it's about 300mA on the +ve rail and about 40mA on the -ve.

Judging from the angry letters I've been getting from the local nuclear power plant, it's considerably more than that. Very Happy

Seriously, I guess I need to measure the current draw, something I haven't really done yet. My power supply has a current meter, and, if it's to be believed, the draw is a tad more than 100 mA on the positive rail. Negative rail, of course, is much less. I'll check it out tonight and let you know!

I'll do a 'worst case' measurement - all 1's bit pattern, which will light it up like a Christmas tree, and run it an an audio rate. The logic is entirely CMOS, but there are a number of those CMOS ICs. Still, LEDs are the main reason the current draw is going to be higher than a normal sequencer, which has, at most, one or two (if it's got an 8X2 mode) step LEDs lit at the same time.

Best Regards,
Scott

Well, the current draw on the positive rail read around 80 mA max when slamming the Klee audio rate with all step LEDs on. I forgot that I had my keyboard hooked up to the power supply before when it was reading around 100 mA. Bear in mind that I don't have two of the slew generators in, which would add a few mA. But then again, I have the current sink in for Option 3 and the original Option 1 installed on the breadboard. Giving it a bit of traditional leeway, I'd say expect around 90 mA in max abuse mode.

Negative rail was around 30 mA.

Cheers,
Scott

Update from the planet Mnemonos:

I'm uploading a PDF containing a table of the mnemonics from the schematic - might make following the schematic/debugging any problems a bit easier.

Cheerios,
Scott

The page doesn't seem to work with Firefox [1.5.0.3 on XP], or it's something with my settings maybe ? Nothing is clickable for me, not even the back link to here.

that's funny - never heard about issues - maybe a java related problem?
you'll have to install the original sun java (microsoft java does not work with mozilla or firefox, IE only!) and enable it within firefox.
hope that helps...

same on firefox 2.0. Sad
tested links on the old site and most of them work, some not. no problems with IE6. i can't see the difference between the working and the non working links yet. but that's all kind of offtopic.

sorry for the inconvenience. hope i'll work it out.

I'm affraid not, I do use sun's - to be sure I just upgraded to the latest version (and checked it to be used).

Your other pages (I checked modular, soundlab and doepfer) do work OK BTW, so it seems to be something specific - as if the whole green area is not seen by my browser (but it is visible to the eye) - I can't even highlight text in it with mouse or keyboard.

Really too bad, as in IE it's a very usable page to get an overview for the Klee !

Page loads fine here- but the schematic links aren't clickable. (test with MacBook Pro/ Firefox 2)

HEY GUYS!!- This page works absolutely fine with Safari on the Mac Confused Laughing Laughing Laughing

if this only was true - but i found one further link there and one embedded html object that don't work too. it's strange, because i created all these links from one origin link by copy/paste...

that gets very complicated and if i only knew what makes the difference...
that's boring. i use a freeware html editor (not very sophisticated) - i will see what i can do next week and i'll let you know. i really don't want to hitchhike this great thread for browser problems. i just wanted to give an overview for the incredible klee project on one site (sigh).
thanks to all your feedback anyway!

cheers,

Just goes to show that simplicity always holds the key! Cool

matthias, just out of curiosity, what platform is that on?

Matthias, keep up the good work anyway. I'm a bit worried that the Klee may get 'Doepferised' if we are not careful Confused

My IE can view it just fine.

I've been working on a treatise for the Gate Bus, to go with the other documentation - hope to post that soon (I'll send you the text, Mathias).

The 291 thread inspired me to pull out my 291 filter, which is on protoboard, and do a Klee quickie using it.

It's two voices plus the Thomas Henry UD-1 - a sawtooth is going through the 291 and I'm modulating the FM input with a pulse wave, and the CV is being modulated with an EG, a Klee output, and an LFO. I'm slightly modulating the BW with a Klee output as well. I'm using the LP output. It starts out with a fairly wide BW setting, then halfway through or so I decrease the bandwidth (if you download it, you'll hear it - the filter gets noticeably sharper).

The other voice is a sawtooth going through the 2040 clone filter.

The sample's really just a run-of-the-mill Klee sequence, nothing special. The sample is just more less to demonstrate the 291 in a decidedly un-Buchla-like manner. Wasn't sure which thread to put it in, so I tossed a coin Very Happy

Cheers,
Scott

Just before bed I checked the synth and found it still on. Instead of doing the right thing, I flipped the amp on instead and got sucked up in it again. The Klee was still playing the same pattern, so I plugged into the HP output. I recorded this small sequence. It's another reason why I love this filter. The HP on this filter can sound at once brittle and liquid, and seems to morph from wirey to rubbery at will. It's not your usual HP output (which the original 291 didn't have, BTW, I found a point to tap off the circuit that had a high pass response, near as I can tell).

Either that or I'm not getting enough sleep Rolling Eyes

Cheerios,
Scott
