Picked up a old Tandy joystick what to do? Subject description: CV joystick? maybe APC? |

I was going to make a CV joystick for my Sound lab. Don't know how, but thought I'd try or make a Atari Punk Console. I think I'm leaning towards the APC. Maybe CV when I find another. I have a Question though. It has 2 100k pots and the APC uses 470K (500k). If i put a 200k resistor in series on lug one and another on lug two will this be better than just one 400k on one side or the other? I know this will screw the taper up a little but how much does it matter for a little noise box. Or what about just using the 100k's as is? Or what about I just breadboard it and let you all know how it works. Now thats a novel approach? _________________ "your stripes are killer bro" |

If the APC has timing capacitors you could just make them bigger to compensate for the smaller pot. That would be the easiest way. _________________ Stay Cool

On my first APC I used 100k pots and adjusted the resistors accordingly and it worked fine. I also tried different caps, namely the electrolytic(cant remember what to though) and it sounded better!! Just play with it until you get what you like or you blow your hands off in a burst fire. At least you will have died serving a higher cause. _________________ Eternity's beauty is but a delirious void my love |

Wow that's cool zebra. What model? I've been combing the junk stores for months looking for a pot joystick to finally get my APC off breadboard.

The Logitech Wingman and Wingman Light are pot based, but of course not the Wingman digital.
Only problem is that they are rather large and clumsy and you can't remove the "wanted parts" from the base since its all kind of integrated. _________________ Stay Cool

Not sure what model. It's a very basic tan joysitch with two buttons. I gots paid so I think I'm gonna bread board it tonight. I reckon I'll use resistors and tweak the caps alittle. Probably hook the buttons up a la circuit bend. This is it http://joe.tolumalaska.com/sam/Tandy/Joystick.JPG
It has switches to go between (spring action) back to center, or just loose. _________________ "your stripes are killer bro" |
