guitar trigger for sound lab |
 |
|
| hello, i am building the sound lab mini-synth and i am interested in the guitar trigger modification. i would actually like to be able to use any sound, rather than just a guitar. the design of the trigger shows a preamp for the guitar, does this mean that using other sounds (i.e. a microphone already run through a preamp or the output of my sampler) will overdrive the unit? distortion is great but i'd like it to be controllable. |

the easiest way would be to have a attenuating pot at the input. just wire the input jack socket to the collector of the pot, the emitter to ground and the wiper to the circuit... the only indicator for distortion is your ear then. _________________

you may call it volume or gain...
wire it just like the output pot of the SL (see picture).
BTW it don't has to be 100k, 50k will do either... _________________

Would it be better to have the pot go before or after the isolation cap? If after would it work to have the pot go in over R2 and then have the wiper go to the remainder of the circuit? |

depends on how sensitive you are for panic attacks ...
Usually a cap is placed after a pot _________________ Jan
