Hi all. Getting started on ordering parts. Very Happy

Can I substitute 74HC14 for the CD40106? I have a bunch laying around that I'd been using to debounce tacts.

Pinout is identical and I couldn't see anything that made the CD40106 any different -- thought I should double-check though!

I could be wrong, but aren't 74-series chips limited to a supply voltage of 6 or something, where CD-series (the 40106) can take 15V?

Worth checking...

Thanks. That's it. (First bullet-point on the datasheet and I looked right passed it.)

Ha! I know what that's like... Embarassed
Actually - I think someone here had a problem with smoking logic chips, untill they found out about that supply issue. I figure you wouldn't want that, right?

But I guess if something is on fire, it's easy to debug! Razz

Good luck on your build.

Yeah, that was me.
I put a 74HC14 in my first WSG and wondered why it sounded so strange! Laughing At 9V, it didn't actually smoke, but I was listening to it cooking veeeerrrry slowly. Shocked

Top marks to Fonik! Very Happy
It's the 74C14 which is a pin for pin perfect replacement for the CD40106. Cool
