ok, this project is a GO
I have to finish up the outstanding orders I have for the pedal then I will finish up the PCB layout, and send out PM's to everyone on the list with paypal instructions. Price will include shipping CONUS, for international purchases please contact me for shipping charges.
I still need help with the CV control. I could put something similar to Scott Stites CV that he did on the Dim-C TZF but I will give it no guarantee's. !!Free Kit to the person who designs the CV!!
Lead time to receive your kit/board should be about 4-6 weeks. About 3 of the 4 weeks will be for manufacturing the boards and shipment to you, I will only need about a week after the boards are received to assemble the kits.
I plan on stuffing one of the boards and doing a well documented photo manual for the project which will take some time as well. |

| I have an interest in this too, at least one pcb and possibly a kit depending upon final cost. |

hi jfromel,
I'm very excited about this project - I've been wanting to build a Dim-C clone for many years!
I'd quite like to use as close to original components as possible and I have some BA718 and M5218L that I've been keeping for this. But I think with your PCB I won't be able to use them as you are using DIP8 footprint?
So I guess I'm going to have to look for the DIP8 versions of these opamps. Can you tell me what is the opamp you are supplying in the kit in place of the BA718?
I saw you are supplying NOS BBDs and clocks. Is there a reason you are using NOS rather than the modern manufactured ones (e.g. from Visual Sound)?
Also, do you know if the transistor pinouts on your PCB would be compatible with the original transistors?
Sorry for lots of questions

Update,
Scott Stites has graciously agreed to work on the CV control, it will have one CV control for both delay lines.
For the input and output stages I have used both OPA2134 and TL072 with good results.
NJM2904 is the closest match for the BA718/728 but I think I prefer TL072's in the BBD and a TL082 in the LFO. The NJM2904 must be close to the BA718 because it does sound just like a DC-2 with those op-amps.
Since I have never fired this up with the stereo input or input buffer I guess we will just have to test out different op-amps.
Regarding the NOS BBD's and Clocks..... my stock is pretty inconsistant so either I start testing every one I get in or go to a new clone. I think I am going to end up using the V3207/V3102 from CoolAudio, which I am guessing are the same as the ones from Visual Sound or Fulltone.
As soon as the CV control is worked up I will start taking peoples money |

Not to shove in uninvited, but, one small suggestion, FWIW: you might try a TL062 for your LFO. I've had great results with it for those Boss-type LFOs. Nice and friendly on the PS rails, which will minimize ticking and will also save those batteries, if you're doing that.
I'll go away now. . . .
Regards,
Joe |

UPDATE: I am ready to start taking orders. I will be working on the PCB for the next few days finishing it up. I will send everyone on the list a PM and you can pay via paypal to "john (at) fromel (dot) com" Prices include shipping in CONUS. For international orders please contact me. Ordering will be cut off on Friday, June 20th, 2008, so you have a week to get me your money.
Board $38:, comes with a BOM that is sorted by part location as well as by component, a schematic, a large format board layout, and a brief instruction sheet for wiring tips, tuning the BBD's, etc.
Kit $100: Will come with everything that the board comes with plus: All the components necessary to populate the board. This is the same spec for the components that I use in the pedal I build. I was striving to have the highest quality and maintian a small size. Where possible I use higher ratings than spec to squeeze a bit more headroom out of the circuit.
1. The BBD set and companders will be NOS and the op-amps for the BBD and LFO are a clone of the original BA718. All other op-amps will be TL072. NOTE: I may change the BBD set to the CoolAudio V3207/3102, I think TL072's sound best in the BBD and LFO and will most likely take a previous suggestion of going with a TL062 for the LFO.
2. The trannies and diodes are NOT NOS but are compatable substitutes.
3. Original spec calls for .125 w 5% resistors, the kit will come with .25 w 1% resistors.
3. Ceramic caps will be 50V min, film caps will be AVX boxed 63V or 100V depending on stock. Electolytic caps will be rated higher than spec when component size allows. Most notably all 10u caps will be rated at 35v but are spec'd at 16v.
The pricing of the kit is about what it would cost to piece this together without bulk pricing and the components for the kit will fit the board nicely. |

Yes, mounting holes in the corners. A MOTM/Blacet/AMP power connection would also be cool.
Could you post a higher-res audio sample? Maybe an MP3 of the video you posted? |
