Subject description: Help and info needed for SN76477 circuits

Finally! a pool of expertice in which to float my dusty old sound FX generator. A questio I,ve always pondered is If I'm making the " experimenters board" layout with all the inputs connected to switchable resisrors and capacitors Is it neccessary to have spst switches at all the inputs.I know that the main reason for this circuit was to determine the specific values of components to probably hardwire for a specific sound but it still would be kinda fun to play withI just figure the fewer components the better.
Also,I realise that other circuits could really expand the sound possibilities. Any relatively simple ones out there for a old newby trying to get it all back... scratch

You could use dip switches if you were trying to save $$
