Calendar Event: June 30, 2004 - July 9, 2004

Just in:

The 10 day workshop, Iceland inside and out is looking for participants,
especially from the Nordic countries. The workshop is one of the 6
workshops in the Trans-Cultural Mapping series
( http://locative.rixc.lv/tcm/workshops/index.cgi ) being organized by
RIXC ( http://www.rixc.lv ).

One of the primary focuses at this workshop is the creation/development
of software/tools for artistic, collaborative, interactive (/wireless)
mapping. Thus, we're especially interested in artists with experience in
programming/scripting/electronics. But of course we also need people who
may not be so technically oriented to use the stuff we come up with. The
dates for the workshop are June 30th till July 9th. The workshop starts
out with 3 days in Reykjavik to organize, get aquainted etc. Then we
take a bus trip to Skaftafell national park where we'll spend a couple
of days doing mapping experiments in a rather remote region (about as
far inland as you can go without losing GSM/GPRS contact). From there we
go to Hofn, a fishing town on the south-eastern coast, where we'll spend
three days doing more experiments, especially using fishermen to map out
the fishing waters off the coast of Iceland. Then we head back to
Reykjavik where we gather our thoughts and try to figure out what we
accomplished.

Interested? Contact me as soon as possible.
