oh here is a picture of the little addon boards i made for the dual module- it has an MTA .156 power connector and the 'both' +/- circuit x 2. the PCBs mount into it with .1" right angle headers.

I know about MTA.156 connectors, but please tell me what is " the 'both' +/- circuit x 2"?

I am eagerly eyeing my 281 boards now! Just waiting for a few parts to get the Fritz chaos boards, PS3100 resonators, and #3 Wogglebugs off of my bench! I am enjoying a tremendous amount of fun with this stuff, and I can't even hear any of them yet!

it is an overall [both slopes] control input with inverting attenuator- no i hadn't drawn a schematic- it is just a standard 'attenuverter' with 2 49.9k resistors on each output- these are just wired to the node the other control inputs are. this was discussed earlier in the thread and since i had the panel space, i decided to go ahead and add it.

Is the 'both' circuit part of the original 281? It's not the 'quadrature' or 'or's' sections, right?

no, it's just control over both slopes, like ganging the control inputs together.

i finalized my new serge style panel design then i made it, stayed up all night last night workin on it. here it is with jacks in it and knobs resting on top.

i just used laser transparency printed in reverse then glued onto the panel with spray adhesive. when it was on there i trimmed it and sanded the edges and also ruffed up the glossy surface a bit with steel wool.

it came out really well, i am pretty happy with it. here are some pics. it is hard to get a good photograph of the detail as the surface is still actually somewhat glossy.

Hi Josh,

So I have decided to start this project, problem is the 281 page you've linked to in the first post gives an error message.

oh yes it has been matrixsynthed..kind of a weird entry in that it's titled serge panel something something and he's used my photos there, but then the text is taken from my first post about this project, the PCB really...

i'm flattered, but it's still kind of weird on a few levels to see your words and photos pop up on this *huge* blog read by thousands and thousands without notice...

i commented there that there are no more left, hopefully people will see that and not fill up my PM box while i'm away.

@primate synthesis: ok i think i can part with 2 more, that's all i'm afraid. but we'll see. i'm not counting chickens till they're hatched as i thought they were all 'sold' a while ago. so PM me please..

@asaf and any other electromusicites that need them: here is the link to the documentation:

http://www.sdiy.org/toppobrillo/DOWNLOADS/

that's all that's needed- if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask..

hmm.. it's alot of work- i can't see myself doing a panel this way and not charging a fortune for what will invariably end up an inferior piece, relatively speaking. if i were to ever produce anything for anyone else, i would most certainly 'farm out' the face-plates, same as it's done so easily with PCBs these days...

but anyways, if you want the artwork and/or drill-template, i can send along whatever files you require. oh and i could do a layout for the 258 also, if you like.. it's easy once you have a template to work off of.

ok then, thanks for the interest!

josh

Thanks for the docs, Josh.
I seems to have most of the components already, just to make sure, beside whats shown on the A Vs. B board pdf, are the 44,45,46 resistors should only be placed on Board A ?

EDIT: Nevermind, should have looked at the schematics first.

best regards,
Asaf

Yeah i did understand you were designing a 258 frontpanel.
I tought that automaticly did mean that there was a 258 clone coming.
I am sorry about that Wink

I heartily welcome any successful Buchla 200 oscillator clone. Haven't tried Mark Verbos' yet, and still welcome anything even closer to the original.

Depending upon which model, however. "C" is right out, unless modded to have the exponential FM of the "B".
