Why I Won't Vote For Ralph Nader |

I voted gladly for Gore. But I am becoming evermore disillusioned by the corrupting role of money in both major political parties. And, sadly it is the importance of the disposition of the Supreme Court alone that keeps me in the Democratic party |

Welcome, Jim
That's a very interesting web site. I looked up my zip code and saw people I know have given money to George W. Bush. Can't wait to see them and give them shit about this. I'll bet they get spooked to know this information is so accessable.
This is really disgusting. There are schools in my community were there isn't enough paper for the children, and my rich neighbors are giving thousands to a political party. |

Well.. that does not surprise me at all. I heard this speech thingie by Bush some years ago.. he did of course kill the english language .. but also managed to say he would dispose of the poor(?)! Maybe that is why the rich are giving him contributions? He did not say ow he would dispose of the poor, but guess we should not need to worry until the BBC starts sending reports of secret prison camps. _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

Well, I don't think anyone is talking about or even thinking of camps for poor people, although one could argure that the US prisons are camps for poor people. It's just that the conservative philosophy is that everyone is responsibile for themselves, and that if you are poor it is because there is something wrong with you. Their concept of the obligation of government is to make sure everyone has the opportunity to do what they need to do to improve themselves. Regan's big mantra was "get the government of of the back of the people."
Of course, when the so-called conservatives get power, they don't follow their principles. Instead of more freedom, there is less. |

As I recall, another one of Reagan's mantra's was "The government is not the solution, the government is the problem."
Lyrics from a song a I'm working on:
"...Tyco, Enron, WorldCom, Anderson, a kinder gentler SEC!"
There was good reason for the anti-trust laws and regulation--big business is not always benign. And when it is not, it's "bigness" can produce ills of such magnitude and/or immediate gravity that they do not afford society the luxury of waiting to see if market forces will eventually (some year, some generation) be self correcting. |

Well, Robert, you may remember that when I was an executive in a big business, I would argue with you about this. I thought that big business could be benign, and even benevolent.
Well, what happened was my business got deregulated and it lost any sensitivity to people and to the community. So, unfortunately, now I'm on your side of this arguement. Next time we get together we'll have to find something else to argue about. |

Jim,
Interesting, but might be more-so if one could draw a perimeter and come up with party $ totals therein. And I see that generic donations such as the miserly ones we make to the DNC and the DCCC do not show. And It's more quantity than distribution that scares me now. Yup, nothing like getting your own ox gored to prompt a re-evaluation of position. |
