This looks like a terrible deal. I just can't imagine allowing fans to participate or have a say in my creative process. I'm thrilled to have fans enjoy my work - but it's MY work. I also don't want to "trade" my work - just try to make a living selling it. This is what this system does.

Which aspects do you consider terrible? I like it that the site offers users a financial incentive to critique composers' work. the users hear the track 'cold', and after they've posted their comment, the artist and song names are revealed.
If you don't like feedback from listeners, okay... you have a point. Perhaps you read something I overlooked when I signed up? _________________ SUPERMARKET: audio-visual immersion // http://www.reverbnation.com/supermarket |

Well, critique is fine (and welcome!). This web site actually said that fans have a say in how the album goes - in fact they pay for that privilege. I'm not crazy about that. Plus your music gets traded around like stocks. I'd rather just sell it to fans who like it.
I'm sure this works for some people. Just not my bag. |

i checked out that part (the fan input) and it's not binding... it says that the artist retains the final say... and it only appears to be in regard to the order of the tracks. if people feel strongly enough about the music to want to play 'director' offering ablum structural suggestions, that's fine. lucky for us, the artists aren't bound to accept their suggestions as anything more than that.
i'm not sure about the trading aspect... i think that's actually investing in an artists possible success... not the physical music data. More like the futures marked from my limited economic understanding. i'm not expecting anyone on the leftfield side of electronic music to get to the point of being played like an english football league team in any case.
incidentally, have you found any websites that do more positive things with your music online? _________________ SUPERMARKET: audio-visual immersion // http://www.reverbnation.com/supermarket |
