Motu Midi Timpiece Subject description: DP4, MTP-AV & DAE compatibility |

Hi everyone.
I have a Midi based Home Studio. I've working with the following setup:
1.2 GHz single Mac G4 - OS 9.2.2
Digital Performer 3.1.1 (for sequencing and tracking)
Midi Timepiece AV serial - Free Midi
Pro Tools 24 Mix Plus 5.1.1 - DAE 5.1.1
A lot of plug Ins (Waves, TCE, Auto Tune, Vocalign, Sams Amp, etc etc)
My G4 died, then I got a 1.25 GHz dual Mac G4, with OSX 10.3.9 and Digital Performer 4.0 already installed. Then, I removed the main hard drive with all the programs inside, and installed it in the dual Mac as a second hard drive.
What I'm trying to do, is work with DP4 (in OSX in the main HD), to have the possibility of work with some programs that don't run in OS9 (like Virtual Guitarist, etc), and keep working with Pro Tools (and all the plu-ins) in OS9 in the second HD.
While I didn't find any problem with Pro Tools, I found some in DP4:
- MTP-AV serial doesn' work in OSX. Then, I have to buy a USB Midi Interface. Could it be MOTU Midi Express? (I need just a Midi Interface to connect my 8 sound modules to the Mac)
- With respect to the audio, DP 4.0 doesn't work with DAE. I have to update
to DP 4.1 at least.
Am I right? Any suggestion? I'll appreciate your advices (sorry about my English) |

Hi. Your workstation setup sounds a lot like the one I had 2 incarnations ago.
I had to get a serial port addon for my G4 in order for my (then) MTP to work. I just looked and lo-and-behold, they are still sold. _________________ Garret: It's so retro.

I can't remember what version of DAE that DP4.0 worked with. I don't even think I retained the manuals for it, as DP manuals can take up a shelf space if you don't cull them regularly.
Why do you use Pro Tools, and DP? _________________ Garret: It's so retro.
