Yea in this life if you need guarantees you might as well hang it up. Go vote and say f&*^'em's my advice. |
I have a constitutional right to such guarantees; in fact I have a right to take part in overseeing (part of) the election if I feel the need. In my interpretation that would mean going over the source code to these machines and indeed verify that it's the same code that's running. Right now I can't... curiously I can't -partially- because of a government that was elected by these machines. I'm not saying I there is a link but if I consider the way *I* play Civilisation; there'd be one if I was in a position to do such things and in desire for more power. _________________ Kassen Last edited by Kassen on Fri May 16, 2008 5:46 pm; edited 1 time in total |

We could put a thousand men and women on the moon now, if we wanted to.
The sad thing is we're more interested in money, guns and God. _________________ What makes a space ours, is what we put there, and what we do there. |

Sure, and applauding loudly for people who shout loudly.
Admittedly it was this "us v.s. them" idea that got people to the moon at all but then again; it was hardly a very useful exercise compared to -say- investing in education, healthcare, the environment or international relations. _________________ Kassen |

You're probably right. Specifically, I was thinking of the period starting at roughly FDR and ending with Reagan. Reagan took the conversation away from differing opinions that could be logically discussed into more of a realm of absolute right and wrong and emotional resonance. Reagan was a disaster, in my opinion. |
Well, as I understand my history, LBJ kept a war going that he was convinced was a loss, and Nixon upped the ante. And weren't the MCarthy/HUAC witchhunts during the "I Like Ike" years? Lots of karma to get beyond, and not much intelligence or effort going into getting past it.
I enjoy Keith Olbermann's rants, although I don't usually make it all the way through, nothing against him. The other "news" talking heads are mostly damp dishrags or right wing provocateurs. I'll see how I feel after the election in November. _________________ When the stream is deep
