Does anyone have clean versions of the Elektor vocoder pcb designs? I have both the English and French PDF, but they neither are straight nor very clean. It's probably possible to straighten them out and get useable pcbs from them, but if anyone has better ones it would safe some work.

do you talk about the 14band vocoder that was also published in the german ELRAD magazine?

Not sure. I'm not familiar with the ELRAD magazine.
The Elektor one is a 10-band vocoder though.

the german ELRAD amgazined published several designs borought from other magazines, so it could have been but in this special case it seems to be not. Crying or Very sad
BTW the ELRAD magazin is available on PDF for about 30.-EUR and features a lot of interesting cricuits such as the Transcent2000, the 14band vocoder, a polysynth, a lots of FX, mixers and such and even digital FX... - all in german, though.

Hi there. I don't have any, but this is exactly the sort of thing which inspired me to start this other thread:

http://electro-music.com/forum/topic-27044.html

I am still trying to make basic modules so that I can have a system to play. So... vocoder is going to need to wait until I am caught up with other things. Over the years I have dreamt of making the ETI/Powertran vocoder, but those PCB files are a real mess too. Realistically, it'll be at least a year before I make any sort of vocoder.

Good luck!

Hi Etaoin, I've got the originals around here somewhere. Give me a couple of weeks or so (I'm really snowed under at the moment), and I'll pull them out, and scan them.

Incidently, you do know that, although harder to build (due to the one circuit board only- apart from the voiced/unvoiced detector?), the Powertran version was a lot better (Tim Orr/ EMS design you know! Very Happy ).

I've also got the voiced/unvoiced detector for the Elektor somewhere too.

Tom

Yes, but indeed, even apart from the pcb being about twice as large as any raw epoxy currently being sold, it would be impossible to fit into my etching tank...

Apart from that, those scans of that pcb are even worse Very Happy

And I like the patchability of the Elektor one...

Yes. I thought you might spot that one! Shocked Laughing

Somewhere else (but I don't know where now Crying or Very sad ) I had a circuit for a CMOS-based vocoder that hardly used any parts. I think it was 20 channels or so Shocked

Thanks! Should be better to manipulate being greyscale (contrary to the b/w bitmaps from DAG).

Hello,

For the eventual builders of the Elektor vocoder , i have recently found back a couple of buss pcbs i have home-etched many years ago . They are for sale on Ebay... Make me an offer by email if you want to Buy it now ...

Please notice the copper is still well protected, i have not removed the sensitive varnish ...

It is here :
http://cgi.ebay.fr/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=300237755637

Cheers,

Marc B.

Nope. Not that one (Tim Orr). Another ETI vocoder. The schematic is probably gone for good. It was only half a page of A4.

well if anyone can remember what issue or special edition it was in, or what was on the cover, i will find it and buy it.

I have the schematics of the Big ETI one and the elektor one...but the CMOS one sounds intriguing.

thanks

I think I am guilty of the cmos one in ETI Tech Tips. It was just a joke because ETI paid £20 for any Tech Tips published so I thought of any old rubbish and I think had around 5 or 6 published!!
