I'm kinda stuck here, is there any way to adjust PitchBend range on a device via MIDI ? For example, changing from -2 to +2 semitones to one octave just by sending MIDI message ?

I don't think there is a standard for this.

What are you trying to set it on?

Cheers

I just think maybe there's a trick to do it, as i can't find any CC for that. I read in other forum that it can be done with RPN, but it says not all device compatible with it. It's just annoying, the -2 to +2 standard is not suitable for guitar, and i think if there's a way of changing it, i can put that inside the MIDI file i made.

I must admit I tend to set the pitch-bend range on a patch basis on the synth I am using.

If you are a midi guitar player may I direct you to the new Sub-Forum "Strings And Things" http://electro-music.com/forum/forum-172.html

Cheers

you can try the change scale patches from Sensomusic Usine...
it takes the incoming MIDI values, treat them regarding the min and max you select, and create the apropriate values out.
i'm sure you can do the job with this.
it's Standalone or VST, and free!

Hey, thanks for letting me know about the new sub-forum. I'm not exactly playing MIDI guitar though.

Finally got it, although not quite understand the meaning of them. It's kinda lucky find i think..

CC6 - 64
CC6 - 24 -> PB Range
CC38 - 0
CC38 - 0
CC98 - 9
CC99 - 1
CC100 - 0
CC101 - 0

This can be quite useful especially for changing pitchbend range on an uneditable patch, such as GM ROM bank. I've tried it on my soundcard wavetable GM ROM bank that has the SMF fixed default of -2 to +2 pitchbend range, and now it can have -24 to +24 range, which i think was not possible before.
