Kyma X System wanted |
 |
|
I've just seen a few Kyma X systems for sale on this forum in the last few months, so thought I'd try posting as I'm looking for one. Annoying I just missed those ones, I probably would've gone for one if they'd been a bit later!!
I've just sold my Eventide H8000 to fund a Kyma, but I'm in the UK and can't afford a new unit (especially with the extra customs charges on a new unit to the UK).
Please contact me if anybody has one available, or any tips where to find one? Am I correct in assuming that even second hand units are only usually for sale from the USA, so my best bet is Ebay or Craigslist? |

| They should be coming out with new hardware very soon. Keep an eye out on their webpage. I'm not sure if it will be cheaper, but it will definitely be much more powerful. I'm hoping they drop the price a bit, and maybe I could get one next year. |

Hi there,
I'll keep checking the Symbolic Sound website, but no clues so far... Although there is a private forum for registered Kyma users only, so perhaps there is more info/rumors on there?!
Just wondering, what makes you think there would be an update very soon? Is it based on something you heard or just a guess? It would be really disappointing to buy a second hand Kyma, and then the new one comes out a few months later... Then I'd be a bit screwed coz the old one would drop in value, and being a second hand buyer I wouldn't get the hardware upgrade discount from Kyma!!
I think I could wait until January, but not much longer... Maybe I'll just buy new and pay a lot more, at least the upgrade would be much cheaper whenever they release it.
Thanks for your post, if you have any further info please let me know? |

| I saw some leaked info on the web. I probably shouldn't say anything else tho. I think they will be making an announcement in the weeks to come. |

There are some rumours, no idea where they come from, and there is little on the web about it except for the matrix synth ref pointing to sequencer.de and it looked like stuff was pulled from sites as well ... anyway, see http://electro-music.com/forum/post-215081.html#215081 _________________ Jan

Hi all,
In fact, I had never seen that many KYMA systems on eBay EVER!!!
Those KYMA users know something we don't. I was tempted to bid on one of those KYMA-X systems I spotted, but after finding up to three in less than a week I started looking for any rumours and I then found about the KYMA PACARANA stuff.
That, and now rumours about a possible CLAVIA G3 with samples...

I'll also do. The only problem now is figuring out how to bring it to EU avoiding those high customs taxes. _________________ pedro trotz's website |

And the other thing is to find out about a working sound card ... couldn't quickly find any info about that. _________________ Jan

I have fully loaded (all DSP cards) Kyma for sale (see this forum topic list). It includes an expanded I/O section and the firewire interface.
As far as the new units. You have to provide the sound card. Currently the only supported I/O interfaces I know of are from MOTU and TC Electronic. Hope that helps all.
BTW. Kyma's A/D D/A is incredible. It is some of the best conversion I have heard and on the Capybara there are word clock options as well. The 320 will not be obsolete any time soon.
