Nord Wave, 410 firewire and nuendo connection |
 |
|
wishing everyone in the forum a happy new year, i want to ask a question about my Nord Wave. I have bought it and it sounds really great. The problem is that, i need 2 things (if possible)
1) I couln't get a sound from my KRK-ROKIT monitors when i tried to connect nord wave to my computer. The layout of my connection try is like this;
Norwave is connected to comp. by USB cable (if usb don't work do i have to buy a midi interface?) and the krk monitors (xlr) are going to Maudio firewire 410 souncard's ouputs 1-2. The nordwave's left out and right out is going to 410's outputs 3-4
-------
or maybe i am doing smt wrong after i open nuendo. (what is the exact procedure)
2) Is it possible to get sound via computer with nord wave, without using cubase or nuendo. or any other software. If yes how is the set up please!
thanks a lot. Happy to post one of the earliest posts of 2009.

(I don't own a Wave, but I think there isn't a 'keyboard tool' other then the Manager, which, I think, uses only the sample files on the computer, not on the synth itself)

I still use MidiMan 2x2, almost 12 years now and they have never failed me... Take your time to investigate: search the Net, download the specifications and manuals. Ask your local dealer about availability, prices and experiences. It's part of the fun
I found out to do research makes it possible to compare what's on the market and sometimes in the specs there is something what makes you think: "Wow! I want this or that too!"

Hi, Mustang,
USB is only for uploading samples (as Wout said).
To hear your Wave you have to connect AUDIO cables to your interface.
You have to connect outputs of your keyboard (Left & Right) to mic/inst inputs (on front side, set them to "line") on your mAudio410. You could also plug it to inputs 3/4, cause they are line inputs.
So: Wave Output to interface Input.
Then you open Nuendo, add a Stereo track (do not forget to press on the orange colored speaker icon on the track to monitor your playing)
It is important that you route the signal from your Wave in to stereo track correctly. If you plugged the Wave in to interface inputs 1&2, then your routing must be set so also.
Check the Nuendo sound device properties also. VST Connections, shortcut F4, to see if the correct interface is selected in if the outputs are set.
Doing so, you should hear sounds played on your Wave.
To play via MIDI, you should connect Wave's MIDI OUT to interface's MIDI IN. Open midi track in Nuendo and set midi IN & OUT. Do not forget that MIDI only sends and recieves inly data and not the audio signal. For that you always need audio connection.
I hope I understood your problem and helped you in some way. |

Danchen,
Yes you are right. Connecting to the frontside of Maudio really worked!
Still i couldn't have sound from none of the inputs from the back side of 410 but anyway, my problem is solved now.
Thank you very much.

my guess is, you should take a look to your interface's routing and also routing the "IN" on Nuendo, on your stereo track, so that the "IN" is the same as your inputs from the back side of 410.
example: if you plug a synth to frontside, your selcted input in nuendo must be IN: 1,2. If you plug it at the backside, then it should be IN:3,4 or similar, depends where you plugged in your synth.
Also check F4 - VST Connections in Nuendo. Check the "Inputs" if they are active or "add bus" if necesary.
Might also check the interface's mixer to enable inputs and outputs. But hard to say, I'm not an owner of M-Audio products. |

Well i solved the problem. There is a mic/line switch in front of the 410. All to be done is simple as to activate that switch in order to get sound from the back inputs.
Best,
