Hi Chris. Been to your site and i must say that your painting are an inspiration and so as your music. Listened to "you as broken" and like it very much. What gear are you using?

Have you tried recording into your VHS, maybe that can offer a solution toward hiss.

An ordinary VHS does not have that good sound quality really, but a VHS HIFI deck is pretty good. It is comparable to a consumer hifi reel-to-reel stero tape machine from the late 70s.. and then some. You can record in stereo with pretty decent quality. Hiss will not be much of a problem.

A plain old standard VHS has pretty rotten sound. The HiFi decks are completely different techwise and those are good. There is no sense in even trying to record music on an ordinary mono VHS. The sound will be very bad. Not all HiFi decks can record in stereo. Those who can mostly have pretty good line inputs. There were even a few with balanced inputs way back in the late 80s.

yup.. I reckon you will be able to find good ones secondhand. Technincs made many great ones and I had several of those. It all depends on how much it has been used for ordinary VHS playback. You don´t repair a VHS deck, you throw it away. I guess the best buys will be from the late 90s. If it has stereo HiFi,line inputs and has been little used it is probably OK.
The price should be VERY low. You should be able to get a 450 USD unit ( ( late 90´s price for approx. 25-45 USD. These machines can not be repaired these days. There is absolutely no reason why such a unit should be sold at a higher price.

welcome Chris, great to have you here to enrich our community.

Your web site is truly beautiful. You have a great deal of talent. You music is very good too. I listened to a bit of it but have been distracted with other things a bit.

I urge everyone who can to buy one of Chris' pictures. From the looks of things, he has the potential of becoming a big artist. It's not often you can buy great paintings at such a low price.

There is a great deal of variety in your art, very good.

Hope you don't mind, here's a snap I took of you at the NuGroove Festival last weekend.
