Subject description: Is there anything I could replace this with, perhaps a 10n cap?

Hello,
I'm kind of annoyed. I just placed a big Mouser order but forgot to order a 15n/.015uf cap for the Digital Noise I'm building. I tried the dreaded Radio Shack but they didn't have one either. How would putting in 10n cap affect the unit? I suppose I could place another order with Mouser but I'm impatient. Thanks for your thoughts!

David

You mean the 15n at the pink output?

I think it forms a low-pass filter together with the resistor before it? Changing it to 10n probably changes the sound of the pink noise, by it being less filtered? But perhaps not with much.

Try it and see what happens?

i agree, looks like a LPF and 10n would just raise the cutoff freq... or you could also try putting in 2 10s in parallel to maybe lower the cutoff? and in any event, use what you have & you can always swap it out later.

i just finished up a pair of these, with selector switches on the VCO capacitor to select 10n, .1, or 1 uf... (normal, slow, glacial)... at the slowest settings the digital outputs are a wonderful pair of interlocking pulses, very sweet.

lots of room for play here. enjoy!

Thanks for the advice! I'll pit the 10n in and swap it later. I just wanted to make sure I wouldn't damage the unit. Thanks again!
