Hello All,

A buddy of mine has just been given a faulty Roland sh 2000.

The fault is it will only play the last highest note played, fore example:

1st note C4 will play C4
2nd note E4 will play E4
3rd note D4 will play E4
4th note F4 will play F4
5th note E4 will play F4

So, can any one point as to where to start with it.
Or, where i can find fault finding details/ schematic,

Ta Ed

Hi:
Do you realize that the synth is monophonic?
You can't play more than one note at the same time.

Hi,

Sorry if I was not clear on my first post, I will try to describe the issue again.. Smile
This is not an issue with polyphony. I am not trying to play chords.

If I play the note C4 only I hear C4
If I then play note D4 only I hear D4
If I then play note C4, again, only I hear D4 not C4.
If I wish to hear C4 again I must switch the synth off and on.

The synth will only play the last highest note sounded until. If a scale is played from low to high all is OK, if you try to play the same scale from high to low the highest note is sounded for each key pressed.

I hope this makes sense.

Ta Ed

It sounds like a keyboard sample and hold circuit problem. I think Roland calls sample and hold something else. I had an issue like this 20+ years ago on an analog mono synth. I think I replaced a zapped op amp in the s+h circuit to correct. Hope that helps.
