Got my kit!!! |
 |
|
Woo-Woo!
My Appendage full kit just arrived! Now I have something to work on over the new years holiday! As with all the other stuff I've bought from sMs, it's a very complete and nicely packaged kit of parts, the softpot is WAY cool, and the PCB is slicker than snail snot! Can't wait to start building this one! I will photo document my build progress and post the pics as I progress.
Now I need to give some thought to mounting the softpot. I've seen the pics of how Scott did his, I was thinking along those lines, but I might mount the ribbon on a piece of .125" aluminum plate so it can be moved if I change my mind. Anyone else come up with good ideas here?
Thanks Bill and Scott (and everyone else involved) for another great project!
Happy New Year to everyone! Keep on building!
Best Regards,

Seeing all these responses and excitement makes this all worth it!! I will make sure EVERYONE who ordered kits and boards, gets their kits and boards ! Guaranteed. If packages get lost, I would gladly ship another. My goal is to make people happy.
I am glad to see so many having some down time from their usual jobs and having fun building and enjoying their passion. I know I am

Got my kit today, and it all looks good. I'm still pondering what to do for an enclosure, so it will probably be a while until I get to it. _________________ Chris Muir

I also received my kit on the 31st. It all looks fantastic! Thanks for everyone's hard work to make this a reality!
Now I'm wondering if anyone has any particular thoughts about a MOTM front panel for these? |

Yes, I saw you wrote that the top of the mailer was torn open so the board just fell out apparently. Anyhow, PM the address and we will get another board out to you ASAP

My PCB and ribbon arrived safely today in the UK.
It must have just hit the Christmas post at the wrong time, but glad to have it here safely.
Thanks for an excellent project guys.

Hello,
I received my board and softpot last week. These boards really are big, I can't believe the amount that went into them. BTW, is the board laid out in KiCAD?

I've got my board stuffed, and it went together very nicely, except for some slight spacing issues with the trimpots. VR 12 bumps into the terminal block, and VR 4 & 5 are just a little too close to each other. These are both minor, and easily worked around. _________________ Chris Muir

Chris, thanks for those suggestions. I realized that VR12 was hard up against the terminal block. I moved the block further into the board from my original design so that folks could see the V+, V-, and G silkscreen as I thought that was very important. I now see that I will move VR12 down even further to avoid this issue.
VR4 and 5, yes, they are tight but installable as you point out BUT really need more space. I shall also increase the spacing between those trimmers in the next revision.
Very good suggestions and thanks for the user feedback Chris
Glad things went, otherwise, very well with the build.

Recieved the board last week and I'm going to build it today - its a monster!
The board is much larger than I anticipated - there is a lot going on, this looks like it is going to have many more applications then were immediately apparent.
Thanks to everyone involved, and thanks again Bill for putting these superb kits together, it is a real pleasure to build when everything is so well organised. |
