Hi folks,

I finally tried my first PCB layout. I took the VCA schematics of Ray Wilsons WP20.
Could anyone please check my design, if it's ok?

Thanks,
Chris

is this for self etching? i did not compare this to rays schematic, but first thing i notice is that your GND trace to pin13 of LM3900 is to close to pins 14 and 12.

That's exactly what I was going to say! Laughing
Use whatever space you have to keep the largest clearances possible. The trace on the other side of the board hugs pads unneccessarily as well. You've got space to keep this trace further away, and straighter. Use it.
Otherwise, I'd be very proud of your progress. It's not an easy art to perfect. Wink Very Happy

Some things to consider:

1. If you rotate the 330k resistor in the middle, you can eliminate the trace that runs under the transistor, which is the finest detail on the layout.

2. It would be good to ground the floating pads, which it looks like you can do with your existing layout by just adding connecting traces.

3. The cap in the upper right can be moved to the left slightly and then you won't need to wiggle that trace all the way around the other parts.

4. Consider moving the +9V connection closer to the ground terminal and further from the chip to make soldering the connecting wire easier.

All in all I'd say it is an excellent first try at laying out a circuit, nicely done!

Les
