TekniK,
Are you looking for this rack for a specific 5U format module - such as MOTM, Cynthia or .COM - or are you looking for a more generic design for some modules of your own design?
I know of links to rack frames for all of the main module designs and I can dig some links out for other module designs if you give me some better clues.
Regards

Hi,its for my modulles,am aware abouth the motm frames, but these cannot hold on a desk top,it have to be a frame like the doepfer style.
And its not for any motm,.com screws pitch ,thats something i workout after,if i can find the frame its already ok.
Thanks for your attention and efforts. |

OK, that's a little clearer.
There are a couple of ways that you can assemble your own subrack.
One way I've used is to use brackets and extrusions from Penn Elcom.
These are the extrusions, which you can get in 19" widths (as well as 2m sections for you to cut your own length.
The extrusions take a self tapping screw for fixing the front panel, it just depends if the hole placing works for your panels.
You than add an end plate from this range:
http://www.penn-elcom.com/Default.asp?MC=1403000&GC=750&SS=&RC=6&Fl1=&Fl2=&Fl3=
Unfortunately, they don't make a 5U end plate, but I bought a 6U plate and cut it down to size, like this
Best of all, these parts are quite cheap, the frames I built cost less than £12 (£16 if you want the rear extrusions, I didn't need them as mine are rack mounted). I bought mine from CPC in the UK www.cpc.co.uk
For me though, this experiment didn't quite work out, as I'm building MOTM style modules, and the 10U width of these panels in a 19" rack are just 3mm too wide to fit, once you add the end plates onto these extrusions, so I'm having to fall back on the MOTM rack brackets.
If you don't want to go the self tapping route, you can also get T-Strut, like these:
http://www.vectorelect.com/Catpdf/New%20Page%2049.pdf
These are available from Mouser and other companies (just search on Vector T-Strut)
and other aluminium profiles like these:
http://www.supermoduul.com/main/producten/componenten/profiel.html
though with this last one, you may have issues with carriage charges, as they are a mainly dutch site.
Hope that helps and good hunting.

It helps not ,i need 5U,like i told i did search a whole afternoon and found everything except 5U subframes, yes they exist but its in full cage configurations for computer data cards stuff etc.
i don't understand why all units height is available except 5 .
Found a company that custom made them ,but i prefer not to know the price they gonna ask just for 10pcs or so that i need |

TekniK,
Well here's another try.
I had a search on the Vector website and came up with this page:
http://www.vectorelect.com/Product/Subracks/Sub-EIA-VPak.htm
It appears that they have 5U subracks as both kits and assembled modules.
No idea on the price, but it should be worth giving them a call to see.

Not exactly the same idea, but does it work for 5U panels, if you only have one large panel and are decided on what modules will be there - like the serge panels.
I use some thing like this from BUD
http://www.budind.com/view.php?part=al-apc
The CB-1374 is 5 units high.
I then use a Hammond steel or aluminum face plate. There are some pictures at http://minimalist.davidleith.com/DeitzModSynth6.html which might give you a better idea how it works. Unfortunately BUD Industries or Hammond Manufacturing don't seem to make a 5U high boat/chassis. |

Thanks,Davemoog,iv seen these already, they finish is not that what am looking for but the problem is that they are not deep enough,my jhaible card based modulles would not fit.
I did found another similar possible solution and these where some storage systems for dvd or video tapes, they where in black full closed case nice finish but again not deep enough. |
