You will have a lot of fun with your G1, I am sure.

That's what sick days are for
I think a lot of us came down with a case of "red flu" for a couple of days shortly after we got our NM. _________________ Dave Peck |

well, 1st thoughts are that I am leaving my girlfriend and eloping with my new red-haired mistress
slightly disappointed that if i have a sequence-style patch (drums & synth sounds) being triggered by an external midi clock and load up a new patch to a different bank the sequence skips until it gets a new reset signal, but haven't tried this out with program changes yet - is it better? But this is a small gripe - overall very happy with how easy it is to get 'round and especially how easier to use the computer interface is (micro mod is definitely lacking a 'store' button). |

Yes, this is because the NM has to "think" for a moment when you load a new patch, to determine how to split up the DSP allocation across all patches and voices. It does this to maximize the number of voices available in polyphonic patches, but the side effect is the moment of silence when loading patches.
There are some ways to work around this, depending on what you are trying to do. One way is to load all four slots and make them all active, and add a switch module to the output of each patch so you mute & unmute them from within the patch, rather than by loading them and making the slot active.
Other folks around here that use the NM for live performance with midi clock will have lots of tips for this type of thing. Pay attention to Roland Kuit. _________________ Dave Peck |

Hi! Another Micro Modular fanatic here.
My bigger, more expensive synths are mostly gathering dust as I
program the little red box with total addiction. |

thanks for the info davep, i guess it makes sense when i think about it - the micro takes a few millisecs to load up a new bank, i think i was just expecting to be able to do everything i dreamed of being able to do (chopping and changing sequenced patches in a live situation) but this can be got round with some thought.
hey salo - i don't know if this is happening where you are but in the Uk, the price of the rack modular has just come down to £350, if you like the micro you should definitely consider getting the big version |

Yes, I have considered getting the big version, but on the other hand I think I want to save money for a G2.
I'm a little short of money at the moment, and I have to think carefully what I want to do. Maybe I will sell some of my other synths, (and the micro), and get both G1 and G2. |
