Playing clips in Ableton ? |
 |
|
When playing clips in Ableton 8 I want to be able to start the clip from where I stopped it, but it always seems to go back to the beginning of the clip ? I can't seem to find a way to do this, any ideas folks ?

Thank's, but what I need to do is to start any clip "on the fly" I was hoping to place the play marker somewhere on the clip in clip edit view, so that when it was launched again it would play from that point. I am on V6, I should have mentioned that, but I don't think there is a way I can do what I want, I've had a look around on the net, and everyone seems to think that it's not possible.

Sorry to rev up an old thread but the closest I can think of is something along the lines of the clip mode in NativeKontrol's scripts.
It divides the clip into 16 'parts' but this is actually just an auto-calculated start-point where you can fire off the selected clip from one of the divisions... _________________ Crumar Bit 01, Roland SH32, 12u/104hp modular (90% DIY).

Thank's for the reply, I haven't been using Ableton a lot lately, I'm waiting to get the latest version, which I think will address a lot of issues I'm having with it.

YMMV but I believe Live 9 still doesn't resume or magically map clip start-positions (in the way I believe you want it to) and there's still, at least until recently, a lot of noise that it crashes/freezes up a lot (this might be resolved, I can't say for sure).
As a Live 8/M4L user, I'm a little underwhelmed with the substance of the software over the touting of Push - it is, however, early days yet...
The API, via MaxForLive, also seems to have added new bits but reading up on forums, it seems that the Python API method opens more avenues for customising your workflow. _________________ Crumar Bit 01, Roland SH32, 12u/104hp modular (90% DIY).
