Once upon a time, I got the OSX version of the Editor to work with this setup.

Now that I'm back from vacation, I can't get the Editor to find my Micromodular anymore. No matter what ports on the MOTU that I connect the PC In/Out ports, the Editor always says "Looking" or "Still Looking".

I hit "rescan MIDI" in Audio MIDI Setup and it didn't report any problems. Since neither the Editor nor Audio MIDI Setup are well-documented for use in OSX, I am a loss at what to do.

Did you update OSX at all? I'm having the same issue. Once it worked, but now it doesn't and the only thing I can think of that changed was an OS update. What do you think?

Hi

Ive been experiencing the same problem using a midiman 2x2 interface.

Ive got it working now by using my roland pc 300 interface for the 'out' port and the midisport for the 'in' port, so I imagine its some sort of problem with the midi interfaces, osx and the drivers?

I am still using an older mac for the OS9 editor for the NM-1. It runs fine with the midisport most of the time .. but a few times the midisport driver has died and I have had to reinstall it. I have it running great on the same box with OS X too, but the midisport driver seems to be a little flaky at times.
Most M-Audio driver software seems to dislike being reinstalled on top of another driver, so I always deinstall the dead stuff before I reinstall. It is also a good idea to remove all M-Audio drivers you are actually not using.

It took me a while, but I solved my problem! A huge part of the delay was I focused heavily on acoustic instrument playing and neglected my musical electronics.

The problem was that I forgot that the MOTU Midi Express 128 is incapable of mapping MIDI without a computer attached. It needs Performer or some other MIDI application that will tell the MOTU what input port goes to what output port. I used Max/MSP to do this. Embarassed

Another problem was one of the MIDI cables which came in a pair (which I bought so I could use the Editor of course) was a bad cable! I found this out later when I was trying to get my keyboard to trigger notes on the Micromodular. After scratching my head, cursing, etc. I got the bright idea to try a different MIDI cable. Guess what, it worked with the different cable! Embarassed

Next step: See if I can get the MOTU to broadcast my keyboard MIDI output to both my XL7 and Micromodular at the same time.

Lesson Learned: Check my damn MIDI cable next time something goes wrong with MIDI. Laughing

Hello all, been reading this thread (and a few more) and been enjoying it muchly.

I have a problem with a Micro Modular I bought off ebay.

I'm using Mac with OSX 10.3 or 10.46 (dependent on which I boot off)
And my Midi is through my novation X25 keybard.

after the editor software loads it brings up a message saying.

Synth exception.
Error in synth..
Open the MIDI dialog and enable the port again.

When I do it looks for the micro again, finds it says V3.03
and brings up the error again..

Any suggestions?
