And here is the movie. I changed the patches several times and made a few short recordings. You can see that I did this outdoors and it was getting dark, but that way you can enjoy the light show of the LEDs even better. I tried several patches, some good, some not so good, and cut the resulting movie to small sequences showing only a few of the over 400 Million possible configurations. The last sequence is really interesting and so I zoomed in and let it run a bit longer. The random pattern generator works quite well and produces some surprising variations. Enjoy the light show.

Something was odd in the experiments - the tremolo is possible, but why was it always present? And indeed, there was a bug, not in the circuit, but in the soldering. One of the soldering points in the patch area caused a shortcut between two of the very fine wires. It was easy to find and to fix. So here is a new video of the fixed circuit and without the permanent tremolo.

excellent work! well-done (nice lightshow too)
Love the small patchmatrix. If you happen to have them you could try patching with those flickering tea candle LEDs.
