Hi guys an introduction post

I'm going to be back with more info I just wanted to see if there's any way to tell what sort of info I can provide-

A little backstory, I built my sequencer up and it works partially... but its functions don't exactly perform the way it would be considered logical to perform, some of them don't function in the way it's intended, and wanted to see if anyone would be willing to help me diagnose where I went wrong


I made exceptional care to take it slow in the event something like this would happen but it seems I have still made a misstep somehow- I don't want to take up anybody's time more than I should I just hoped if I asked ways to diagnose it if someone does come along that is kind enough to help a electronics newb than they could have an easier time than without...


I do know to start with I put one of the TL072s backwards by accident (you should've seen my eyes when it started smoking up.. I didn't know the proper orientation...I guessed hehe) and replaced it with a new chip in the right orientation, I'm not sure if that could have the possibility of damaging any other components

Thanks for posting. You're in the correct place to have someone help solve your problem so lets get started.

Firstly, even though you replaced the chip that was in backwards, our good common sense would tell us that the power supply may have been stressed. Where there is smoke, there is current and maybe too much. Start by measuring the positive and negative power supply voltages and let us know what they read. Just some friendly advice, guessing and electronics are not a good match. I mean this very respectfully sir. Always consult a data sheet to find out a components orientation rather than guess what it is. The build instructions are also quite clear in the parts placement.

Please tell us your symptoms to start the troubleshooting. What are you trying to do, what is happening verses what is supposed to happen. Please be as descriptive as you can.
