RE: Flooding [and other stuff]
I thought it was just the US and Europe suffering from flooding over the past few years.

On the US News this morning there was a story about how Kansas has had over 500 seismic events (allegedly due to oil drilling/removal practices!) where there used to be a handful in the same span of time.

OY!!!!

My DSL died roughly 11am Saturday morning (11pm Friday, GMT) and didn't come back UP until 7pm Monday. Hugely frustrating!

Wish I'd been able to get stuck into the Solstice event.

Winter down there. Do you get snow this time of year? Imagine if that had been snow!

Here's my post from November 1, 2011 after silently dropping out of the Halloween 2011 Concert Sunday, October 30, 2011 webcast due to trees downed by a freak blizzard while leaves were still on the trees.

I'll PM the following to Jack, but in case he doesn't see it, or if someone else is my stream op for tomorrow at 17:00 GMT:

The trees at our house in Berks County were dropping branches like crazy from the snow earlier today. We are not at home now, but I would not be surprised if we are without electricity tonight and tomorrow.

I will check into the chat and also post a follow-up here an hour before my set time. If you do not hear from me, it means that I have no electricity, and will have to drop out. (I have port / level checked with Jan on Friday.)

Hope to be with you all tomorrow, but if not, have a good one.

Dale

No power when we got home Saturday evening, still none at home (I'm at work), had to park our car down a lane 1/2 mile from the house when a tree dropped with a power line behind it while we stopped at a downed tree in front of us, tree fell towards us while walking home from the car and had to run into a neighbor's yard. Tree dropped where we usually park the van, but luckily we were gone in the van. 20 year old maples between us and our neighbor split into kindling. High tension lines -- the BIG ones -- three out of four lying on the right-of-way 1/4 mile from our house. Probably won't have power for days and days, etc., etc., etc.

Sorry I missed the event. Hope you had a good one.

Dale

Below is a pic. We were without power for 9 days, had to cut down every one of our 20 year old maples in the front yard, additional trees along the sides and in the back (fortunately, there are other trees back there), the woods here are very choked up with fallen trees from that storm, forest fire in a local state park the following April because a falling dead branch from that storm dropped a power line on more storm-downed dead wood, and I could still be cutting firewood from the fence rows, if I needed any more.

However, you can always use your material next time. Very Happy

Take care.
