midi controller issue Subject description: having trouble getting some notes to sound in Sibelius |
 |
|
Hi. I was hoping someone could help me with a midi controller issue that's been bugging me for months now.
I use the music notation software Sibelius (v6) in collaboration with a midi controller keyboard - Alesis Q49. I have the two talking to each other (I'm getting most of the keys to sound through Sibelius), however around every 7th note does not sound when struck. It's really weird.
So, starting from the bottom of the keyboard, the first F doesn't sound, then the next Db, then the next A, then the next F etc - which is every 7th chromatic note. Now these are NOT bung notes because the keyboard did sound all notes up until a couple of months ago. I've gone into the audio settings within Sibelius but to no avail.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Cam |

Sounds like a defect keyboard to me.
Keyboards often work with switches put into a matrix, where every nth key would map to the same row or column ... so when every nth key stops working it is likely that that nth row or column line does not work anymore.
This could be as easy as a bad contact on some connector, or a connector not well seated,. Or it could be as bad as an input or output line of the processor no longer working (which would mean - new keyboard needed). _________________ Jan

Thanks. It just seems odd that it's exactly every 7th chromatic note. Seems like too big a coincidence.
Anyway, may have to buy a new one.
Cheers,
