Version 6 released.

Never though that would happen.

Shocked

It only took 10 years...

I must say though, this version looks very attractive. The blocks and new interface makes it seem usable even for a dunce like me.

Unfortunetaly the blocks are mono only, what where they thinking about!

Other changes seem small on the surface but maybe underneath they are greater.

I guess the most important thing is 6 will be updated but 5 is now dead.

Surely you can pry the blocks apart and make them stereo? I was led to believe this was possible. It is Reaktor, after all. The blocks are just ensembles, right?

NI is not offering a demo at the moment so I can't test it.

I meant mono as in only one voice, like a mono synth.

Seems to be an issue with the fact that blocks are instruments and instruments externally don't support polyphonic signals.

For making mono synths though they sound fantastic.

Generally 6 seems to be a refined 5, the core stuff has changed quite a bit but the primary level hasn't. Many of the issues still remain Sad

Yeah fair enough.

I got interested because it looks set to be a great software modular; a few nice modules that can be tinkered with if needed, more added by clever people, and the remote possibility of learning how to dig deep some day.

I don't think I will ever own a proper hardware modular, it's just too limited for me. Unless my dream of Touch Wallpaper counts, of course. Razz

Have been meaning to post here in the Reaktor section for a few years but never seemed to get to it as most of my posting on the forum is in the diy section. Love version 6 with the new blocks. Having a bit of a rough time with the new format that it uses, but it has forced me to dig deeper into learning more about core which is a good thing. I still find myself building macros in primary in the block panel macro that should be done in core inside the process macro, due to the number of criss crossing wire connections required to interact with the panel. There are the wireless connections, but I find them cumbersome when I am trying to get something to work that I dont know what I'm doing, and the connections are numerous and may or may not work. My screen very quickly becomes a mess of bits and pieces of build that May or may not work that may become useful before the build is complete. It looks like my diy workbench.

My current project is centered on building an instrument that is nothing but a controller interface for my midi keyboard controller keyboards. There are never enough knobs, sliders or buttons to control everything that is in the instrument. First thing was to add the panel knobs buttons and faders on the block or instrument panel just as they appear on the controller. Either an maudio oxygen8 or Keystation88. Next was to add selector switches that would send their data into the instrumants according to what I want to control. The object being that I never have to use the mouse to change any of the instrument parameters with the mouse. The instrument I was building has about 150 different controls at least.

Am on the 5th or 6th rebuild of the interface and related macros and modules, which is progressing nicely. The addition of the wire bundles intoduced in version 6 in are a godsend, as the macros looked like spaghetti, and became a nightmare to trace connections that needed changing. The bundles alone are worth the price of the upgrade from 5 to 6!! Am building a bloc or two that will be controls only so that I can connect my blocks and control all of my other blocks without using the mouse. This of course means I will have to rebuild or build from scratch all of the blocks to be used with the controllers since they will need the necessary custom connections. A bit of a pain, but in the long run will be worth it, since it forces me to learn more.
