40106 with touch pads acting mono |
 |
|
Hi
I've made a circuit using three oscillators from a 40106 which i am mixing actively using a TL072.
instead of using pots to control the pitch i want to use three sets of touch points.
When i touch one set of touch points it sounds great. and individually all the sets of points work. When i touch two sets of points at the same time everything stops.
Does anyone know if I can do anything to fix this? Am I shorting the circuit with my body?
Cheers

yeah that is unlikely to work although if you use one hand for one oscillator and one for the other it might be somewhat controllable.
I think to have it working as you want you need some kind of common reference point to control the pitch of all oscillators.
If you would make 3 simple VCO's and for CV use a resistor to + and a touchpoint and then add one (or 3) common
touch point(s) connected to GND it could work. I have never tried it though.
Or go fully digital and control the pitch in steps with something like a mux so you only need on/off touch points. _________________ "My perf, it's full of holes!"

Ah ok thanks
The thing I am trying to do is one hand controlling one oscillator and one controlling a second one. They each make sound on their own but as soon as I touch them both at the same time the sound stops.
I was hoping there is something i could do but i think the only solution involves maiming myself |

This looks like a Theremin with the difference that with the Theremin one hand controls the pitch of the sound, while the other hand controls the volume.
Maybe if you google for Theremin you get some hints and tips? |
