Garageband.com Announces Network Of Radio Partners

Garageband.com, ( http://www.garageband.com ) the world's largest community of musicians, announced a network of college radio stations and webcasters that play top songs from its member artists. These partnerships deliver on Garageband's mission of empowering musicians and discovering the best of independent music.

Garageband spent last summer signing college radio stations and webcasters into a growing roster of partnerships. Dozens of radio stations now recognize Garageband as the best source for new songs by emerging artists and have agreed to add Garageband songs to their playlists.

Garageband offers each station a private feed selected to fit the station's criteria, based on Garageband's massive database of songs and listener ratings. This gives artists a new promotional avenue, provides webcasters music free of restrictive digital royalties, and gives listeners more diversity of music.

Scott Jamar, programming director of the International Webcasting Association (IWA), stated, "The music provided by Garageband for our broadcast has been a stunning success. According to all listener feedback, the songs from these independent musicians are indistinguishable from those created by major label acts. Most listeners thought these were mainstream songs that they just hadn't heard yet on traditional radio."

Heralded as one of TIME Magazine's "50 Best Websites of 2003," Garageband boasts a roster of 75,000 bands and has sustained almost 50% annual membership growth for three years in a row. The company attributes its success to a unique review process that uses objective audience ratings to rank songs and identify the best.

"By partnering with radio stations, we bring the best of emerging artists to the consumers most likely to appreciate it," said Ali Partovi, CEO of Garageband. "As our radio network grows, we're reforming the way music is discovered and promoted, bridging the gap between 'indie' and 'mainstream.'"
