..I convinced myself one of my Kawai K5000s was dead (no sound) and was working thru stages of grief towards acceptance ("hey, it's still a kick-ass MIDI controller") when it occured to me that perhaps it would work better with LOCAL CONTROL on. Sacrebleu!

Well, I got the laughing at myself part down pat, it looks like that skill will serve me well. Smile

The Left output jack is failing, I've read that the repair is a simple re-flow but taking the thing apart to get to it looks rather intimidating, and my dirty fix to this is going to be an insert cable from the headphone out for the time being.

Tomorrow I'll print a sign: "LOCAL CONTROL ON?" and hang it on the wall...

Hah, one pedal I built, I couldn't figure out why the hell it wasn't working...

... until I realised that the output jack's tip contact was soldered to ground, not to the actual output signal.
