Well, I don't know about Italy or Norway, but in America, the population is strangely hypersexualized by the mass media, advertising in particular, which is contrasted against puritan roots that haunt us til this day. The tension is astonishing.

you know, I was the proud owner of an Elka Synthex for many years and the only one who was allowed to massage it day and night (it travelled with me when I moved to the States too) but then the love affair ended and I sold it

Yeah... you might be right.. I have been to the states and it did kinda hit me that the mentality re sex is pretty.. well.. weird. Sex over here is serious fun.. and no big deal. A natural and enjoyable part of life.

Sex over here is forbidden, except for the fact that it's openly rampant. You are raised, as a child, with this exhilarating taboo, then thrust into this national orgy as a teenager (younger and younger as time goes on). An unparalleled social slingshot that has done, in my opinion, a staggering amount of damage. You can't have it both ways and expect things to be stable, and those responsible on both ends don't really give a shit, unfortunately.

Sexy by commercial standards perhaps, much the same way Britney Spears is art by commercial standards.

It's all a conditioning campaign. Again, I don't know how it is in other countries, but here, there is an overwhelming effort to dictate what becomes "sexy." It's like knowing who will win at the track or what the winning lottery numbers are. When you can dictate what will become sexy, become vogue, become the in thing, you are in a better position to profit from it down the road. And that is essentially what it is all about. The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue is like the match that lights the profit fuse.

So... we would have to deliver something considered or redefined to be sexy.. in order to get into the foodchain?

I say any food chain that is sexually driven is a food chain not worth being any part of, really.

The contempt and indignity that the powers that be in America have towards the individual is horrifying. Most people don't even notice it, they are too well-conditioned to accept it at face value. Be it food or sex or cigarettes, the consumerism of this people is terribly disheartening. If it sells, it will be used to sell, and sex and been a proven seller time and time again. It makes you wonder how bad it will eventually get.

The most unpleasant film I have seen thus far would have to be Requiem for a Dream. Easily.

Wendy Carlos is OK. And I hope she has fun doing whatever she is doing.

It seems to me we are party discussing issues related to creativity here. Yes,,.. you are supposed to sit in a little room and create masterpieces. That is OK. And you are allowed to have sex too. And yes.. you are allowed to like the tools you use to create your art. Hopefully we can keep Sigmund Freud out of this. Sex and making music is kinda related because both activities are supposed to be fun. So... there... -and yes.. we are allowed to have fun. Very Happy

I will find some URLs and names.

I just found out that the state of whatever is pretty shaky in Japan.

The assembly instructions are very informative. Remember that Japan is the country that gave us the Walkman and the Godzilla movies.

Yes, I love her music. Really great, IMHO. I was groping for a symbol connected with electronic music to make my point, which was:

We can't keep Freud out of this! That is what I was trying to say.

Not kinda, definitely related.

Yup. If sex wasn't very enjoyable, and if we (living creatures) weren't programmed with a strong sex drive, we wouldn't be here.

If we don't have fun, let's not do it. Sex and Music.

Hmm...

Hey, sex is a primary ingredient in advertising in all countries. (Maybe not in Arab countries, I don't know about those). Anyhow, business recognizes that sex is one of the strongest motivators. Rob Stewart, an ancient pop singer most of you may have never heard of, used to make sure the word sex was used at least once in every song.
