Hello everybody,
I hope you are fine in these strange time Sad

I had a nord modular G1, that I liked a lot before selling due to the software editor and my new macbook pro . I tried everything Smile

Today, I found an nord modular G2 at a good price, and i want to use it mainly as an FX box (FX box for my synth and my drum machines...).

I would like to create with my drum machine distortion, fuzz, harmonics, etc. Smile

1- Do you think it is worth in 2020 to get this machine ?
2- Is the G2 good for FX compared to creating a EURORACK Module from scratch with new and more modern modules ? or buying th ZOIA ? etc. ?

Thanks a lot for you advice.

PS:
By the way, I have now macbookpro with 10.13 and I have seen that the software editor seem to work on my machine (I tried). so should be okay ...

For mainly effects, I don't think so personally. It can create effects, but the stock reverbs and delays are pretty utilitarian, at least in terms of some of the really extravagant and out-there effects that have come out in the last few years.

That isn't to say it can't do effects, it can, and creates some interesting ones at that, but given the high price tag and occasional issues, I don't think it would be worth it if that was your goal.

You may be better served with a Zoia, or any number of newer effects devices that have been released more recently.

Now if you want some great drums and synths to run through those effects, then I'd definitely recommend the G2.
