4046 zener noise?

Subject description: don't have a IC handy so i thought i'd ask		 Reply with quote  Mark this post and the followings unread
hey all, i was wondering if anyone has ever used the zener leg of a 4046 as a noise source? i found a stripboard so i'm doing an improvised lunetta with some ICs and resistors i'm never using , but after reviewing a pinout of a 4046 i might have to go out and get one... i'm thinking/hoping that a buffered output of the zener leg into a series of gates might make for a cool percussive effect... anyone have experience with this point?

TIL the 40406 has a zenerdiode. I must have seen it before but never used it for anything.
Looks like it is connected the right way around for a noise source so give it a try Smile
I don't know if it will affect the 4046 in any way but that might be a bonus.
