Hi! New here, i'm still a beginner, lately i've been experimenting with vco design on breadboard, i'd like to set things according to my needs before I start soldering. I've been working on René Schmitz's CMOS vco and Synthmonger's work on this forum. As i play noise/experimental stuff, I absolutely don't care at all about 1v/octave tracking, which makes things easier, but I'd like to have a very broad frequency range, i.e. from about 0.5 Hz to unbearable high pitches (say 10kHz?), with exponential control. I tried to modify the values of the caps and resistors, but I don't manage to get it using a CV input. Basically i'm trying to get the range you have when you just put a pot in the feedback loop of a 40106. How do you achieve that?

Hi and welcome

I have all three (Synthmonger, Schmitz, and the classic 40106 oscillator) in my system and the Schmitz 4069 VCO has a lot more range than my 40106's. The Synthmonger VCO I'm using as part of another module, but it goes from 'fast LFO' rates to ultrasonic, far wider than the other 2.

Are you using a bipolar (+ / -) power supply for the exponential convertors? If so, how are you hooking up your tuning pot? Some schematics show between the negative voltage and ground, but you only get half the range that way. Perhaps if you described your setup it would be easier to advise you on what to try next?
