Electro-Acoustic Sound Box
4 instruments in one. Two outputs, both with volume control for running stereo or with separate efx on each channel.
Instruments are lamellophones on the front, 3 kalimbas and 5 ruler slots. Snare drum in the middle. Snare drum on the side from bicycle license plate from my childhood. 5 string guitar with zither tuning pins instead of guitar tuners. 4 tuned springs. Music box. Magnets. Metal tines on the back. The box itself is a great drum as well.

I like it a lot Will you show us the insides and a schematic? Did you use piezo pickups under the lid and what are the magnets for? Do they produce clicking sounds when you let ferromagnetic objects stick to them? |

Holy Aunt Jemima! That's one absolutely cool contraption!
Congratulations, Shane. I have moved to Durham, NC to be near Genevieve and two charming and brilliant grandchildren. This the the first post to e-m since turning on my computer here. You win the grand prize - free lifetime membership to electro-music.com and an open invitation to Chez Mosc here in Durham. Lucky you... _________________ --Howard

Wow, just now saw all the replies for this. Sorry folks I didn't get any notifications for this thread and had a couple family things pop up this summer.
Thanks for all the kind words and interest everyone!
I have not yet made a video but it will be coming soon.
Sven, sure! I will post a picture of the inside soon. It's very simple. 2 large 3.5'' piezo mics on the left and right under the lid. Both have volume knobs on the top.
The magnets are just for making sound on the top. They can be rolled or "popped".
Phobos, no Cenobites yet
Crossing my fingers. I wanna go dark , but not that dark
Howard, glad you are moved and settled in! Are you liking NC ? We almost moved to Asheville in the mid 90s, but choose the west coast instead. I love NC and I'd love to visit you there in Durham one day.
Ok video coming soon. _________________ ElectroCasa |
