These are great! And they arrived just in time for a Microfreak update which adds sample playback ability - brilliant timing.
If you have more, keep them coming.
The only comment I have is that they're a bit soft. They're 24 bit so there's no issue with batch normalizing them but you wanted some feedback so... _________________ Muied Lumens Sub Forum

Thanks Rob, I need the feedback. I recorded straight into an RME UFX and thought it was a bit soft (but usable) on that bass myself. The idea was to not use any help (EQ/compression) or pre amps (I HAVE some pres) and let the end user do what they wanted on the sound of the instrument. That is the cheapest bass I own, strung with flatwounds, and is the kind of thing that a lot of British Invasion bands were using (Framus, Hofner etc.) I chould have pumped up the gain on the interface, but I don't want to clip. Anyway, it's good to know that putting the files up there in that way (individual file per note etc) is the appropriate way to go about things.
Up next up is my '73 Hagstrom Swede bass (my gigging bass back then) which does have a hotter output and a LOT more sustain. Which raises a question: when is a note too long? The open E on the Swede I just recorded has usable sound for about 17 seconds, which might be excessive. Where should I cut it off- if at all?
Again, thanks for the feedback! |
