I am an old fart of 65 now.
It all started around 1984 when I went to an electroacoustic concert at Concordia university in Montreal. The following year I registered at Concordia to study electroacoustic music.
After I did my studies I spent my career as a live sound and recording engineer and technical director, while doing some music on the side. More recently, about eight years ago, a friend that was running a mobile library started staging literary and poetry events, and wanted sonic environment for those, thus the DJ Abstrait was born: I played soundscapes, synthesized ambiences and live electronics, often wrapped in Ambiloop, for the duration of the events, which could sometimes be whole days.

Now that I’m getting into retirement, I decided to revive my electroacoustic practice. In the last years I discovered Reaktor 5, and the Nord Modular G2 demo. I am spending most of my time auditionning Reaktor and NMG2 patches… (thanks to Blue Hell). And I do listen to electro-music radio quite a bit (the experimental channel).
I deal exclusively in obsolete hardware and software, for economic and political reasons.

So now I have a laptop orchestra comprising a Powerbook G4 under OSX 10.4 on which I run Reaktor, other NI software and music software of that epoch. I also use a G3 Powerbook (OS9) that I use to play soundscapes and other OS9 music software (like CellSynth, etc), and there’s a windoze XP HP laptop on which I run NVG2 and a herd of VSTIs. Sometimes there will be another XP laptop to run Ambiloop, and various small percs, basses (Yamaha BX-1 and BX-5), and electronic instruments.
